Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Fast track your way to a gain a Nationally Recognised Qualification – Certificate III in Business, or Certificate IV/ Diploma in Retail Management via recognition of prior learning.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment pathway that recognises the skills, knowledge and experience gained through work experience, life experience, training courses and work based training. Under the Queensland Government’s new Certificate 3 guarantee and Higher Level Skills Programs, many team members and managers will be eligible to obtain a formal qualification that recognises their skills, knowledge and experience. RPL is also available under other funding schemes or on a student pays basis.
To be eligible for a funded RPL you must meet certain criteria, which may include:
- Aged 15 years or over and not at school.
- Permanently residing in the state providing funding.
- Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen.
- For Certificate III – not hold or be enrolled in a Certificate III or Higher, unless gained at school.
- For Certificate IV or Diploma – not hold or be enrolled in a Certificate IV or Higher programs, unless gained at school.
- Currently working in the industry of your qualification.

What is RPL?
In many cases students with on the job experience can receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), up to 100% of the course. RPL drastically reduces the amount of training required to gain this qualification.
